The Leica M11 Camera.
I bought a IIIC in 1952 and have since used every Leica M, other than the IIIF, M-5 and M8, My photographs have been published in the New York Times, Boston Globe and about 20 other publications, projects for the Alpine Tourist Commission, Getty Foundation among others and are in permanent museum collections.
Leica Ms always worked even in harsh conditions in remote regions of Nepal, Mt Everest and the Alps.
They provide an immediate connection with the subject. No fussing with menus.
The M11 is a wonderful instrument, surprisingly much better than the M10/M10-R. It allows you to quickly adjust it so as to produce optimal images. The level of detail offers a new dimension – allowing full use of the potential of Leica M lenses. And with the new battery and Visoflex, which lets you have the option of either the immediacy of the rangefinder and zone focusing, or a mirrorless SLR that allows placing the point of maximum sharpness creatively an or using longer focal length lenses.
Charging the battery using the USB connection is a surprisingly useful feature fast and simple. the battery can be charged fast and simply, On trips where it would be difficult and slow to replace equipment, USB battery charging eliminates having to pack a spare battery charger..
The M11 is a major advance.
35MM Apo Summicron
After the Leica M2 appeared, a 35mm lens was always my “default.” It’s great for capturing what’s about you, whether it is a group of children playing, a fleeting spontaneous moment in a group of friends, a wedding scene, people at work, the sweep of a scene, or the chaos of a demonstration. While 50mm lenses are great for portraits, a 35mm lens for me was ideal for capturing life about me.
The 35 Apo-Summicron is more than a sharper lens – you can use the point of maximum detail to place subtle emphasis in an image, while retaining a subtle rendering similar to those of classic Leica lenses.
