The Noctilux50mm f/1.2was presented at the 1966 Photokina show. The extremely high speed and excellent optical results from this lens were due to the use of high aspherical elements. Other characteristics of the Noctilux are: helicoid rectilinear focusing, nonremovable optical group. clicks at half stops and distance scale in both meter and feet.
-
Because of its weight, which made it rather unwieldy for professional use, and its high cost, the Noctilux 50mm f/ 1.2 did not meet with the success which had been hoped for also because its price more than doubled that of a Leica M4.
