This 90mm Summicron f2 lens was presented in 1957, but its production of only a few hundred units ceased after just one year in order to introduce a new model which,even though it retained the same optical design, renewed its structure. Characterized by an unusual reversible hood in the kit , this first version was produced in Canada except for a small number of units made at WETZLAR bear serial numbers from between 1,119,000 and approx 1,119,100 and refer to the year 1953 which was four years before it went into regular production.
