Leica Compur Leica (Model B) Rim Set shutter camera with original case & Leica black rangefinder Rare Ex/+ original camera
The variation of the Leica Model B equipped with rim-set Compur shutter was introduced in 1928 and manufactured as late as 1941.
Serial numbers range between 13154 and 51715, this camera serial number is Nr. 50593. The rim-set shutter permitted instantaneous speeds,B,and T setting by movement of a knurled rim control. Shutter speeds are 1-1/300 second: the shutter has the usual tensioning lever. releasing lever and cable release acceptable. The exact numbers of Compur Leicas manufactured including both variations (Dial-Set & Rim-set )is not known,production records suggest that only 1500 were completed
Late production of the rim-set Compur Leicais sometimes fitted with a square accessory shoe is indented along its edges which insures a more secure fit for Fodis rangefinder. The intended type was not normally fitted until the Leica d of 1932.
Special accessories were produced for the rim-set Compur Leica: Filters,Close up lenses,Lens hood and lens cap. The unusual front cap does not Cary the Leica name a slightly larger unmarked cap was also available for the model A.
