- The M4 made its appearance with two new features: the number of frames in the viewfinder including lenses from 35 to 135 and a new, more rapid film loading mechanism
- The Mot version indicates the series of cameras with a black finish predisposed for use with an electric motor drive. The first 150 cameras, made in 1968 with serial numbers from 1,185,001 to 1,185,150 are distinguishable by the letter M after the M4. while later production was given the acronym Mot which was also written after the M4.
